Gertrude Chedzoy

Gertrude Chedzoy, recorded birth 1860, Stoke St Gregory (unverified). PARENTAGE UNRESOLVED (corrected 18 Jun 2026): she had been linked as a daughter of William Chedzoy #145 (b.1860) and Emma Sandford, which is impossible because William was himself born in 1860. The William and Emma census households (1891 RG12/1874 f.113; 1901 RG13/2275 f.45) do not list a Gertrude; their confirmed children are Thomas, Sydney, Charles Henry, Reginald, Lily, Herbert John, Ernest, Ellen Rose and Florence May (all b.1884-1897). The William and Emma parent links have therefore been removed pending a source. Two possibilities remain, neither yet evidenced: (a) she is a daughter of Thomas Chedzoy #97 (b.1814) and so a younger sister of William #145, which would fit a true 1860 SSG birth; (b) the 1860 is a transcription error for a later year and she belongs elsewhere. Resolve via the SSG baptism register and the 1861-1871 censuses before re-linking. Parentage remains UNRESOLVED (candidate: dau of Thomas #97). Do not re-link without a baptism/census source.
