THE ROOT: earliest documented Chedzoy at Stoke St Gregory (~b.1640; his own baptism is lost in the Commonwealth-era register gap of the 1640s). Married ELIZABETH (named as mother on his children's baptisms). Their children, baptised Stoke St Gregory: Edward (1663), Robert (1665/6), Alexander (1667/8). FALSE TRAIL ruled out: a different Robert Chedsey married Susan Budd 1653 at Stogursey - NOT this man (our Robert's wife was Elizabeth), so do not chase it. [FreeREG, primary source]
