Baptised "Bettey" 9 Mar 1734/5 at Stoke St Gregory, daughter of Joseph and Hannah Chedzoy. FreeREG record Married Robert Waggett on 12 Apr 1773 at Stoke St Gregory, her home parish, aged c. 38. The register records her as "Eliz. Chedzoy" (Betty/Bettey being a pet form of Elizabeth) and as a spinster, so this was her first marriage. Both bride and groom signed with a mark (X); the witnesses were James Warman and Edward Barrington. FreeREG record One child confirmed: Thomas Waggett, baptised 24 Aug 1777 at Stoke St Gregory, son of Robert and Elizabeth Waggett. FreeREG record A Mary Waggett buried at Stoke St Gregory on 28 Feb 1779 is NOT a child of this couple: the register names her as the illegitimate daughter of Susannah Waggett, a different (unmarried) woman. Open questions: no burial for Elizabeth/Betty Waggett, nor for Robert Waggett, was found in FreeREG's transcribed Somerset registers (searched 1773 to 1820), so the end of her life is not yet documented. FamilySearch may hold later parish or probate records but its record search needs a signed-in account.
