Birth registered Oct-Dec 1887, Taunton registration district. GRO ref 5c/314 [FreeBMD, Chedzoy spelling]. Fivehead Friendly Society (probable): named at the 1922 Club Day, where Hugh Chedzoy responded to toasts. The society (1865-1939) paid members during illness and for funerals, an early mutual-aid "sick club" wound up when the Welfare State arrived. Its annual procession carried poles topped with a brass dove finial. Identity match by name, locality and age (probable). FUTURE RESEARCH: society/club records may list members and officers.
