[2026-06-14 Find A Grave] EXACT DEATH + obituary. d. 15 May 1931, at Taunton & Somerset Hospital (after an operation), aged 79; of "Fairholm", Stoke St Gregory. A WELL-KNOWN AGRICULTURIST: born Stoke St Gregory, started in the willow industry, later farmed at Fivehead ~20 years; was secretary of the Stoke St Gregory Friendly Society. Wife Elizabeth Ann Sophia Pipe (1855-1939) -- confirms #1862. Sources: Find A Grave memorial #209821281 + a newspaper obituary ("DEATH OF MR. G.C. Detail: born Collickshire, Stoke St Gregory; willow industry; secretary of the (now defunct) SSG Friendly Society (with Rev. H.F.S. Gurney); farmed Fivehead 20yr; represented the parish on LANGPORT RURAL DISTRICT COUNCIL ~10-12yr; long-serving PARISH COUNCILLOR + SCHOOL MANAGER; took over SLOUGH FARM (SSG) ~12yr; honorary DEACON of the Baptist Church; retired North Curry then SSG (a bungalow near Slough Farm). Names his son Mr. HUGH CHEDZOY (=#174) as now farming Slough Farm -- corroborates that link.

Full census trail: 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 at Stoke St Gregory, then 1901 and 1911 at Fivehead/Swell, 1921 in Somerset. Died 15 May 1931 (Death Index Apr 1931 Taunton; Find A Grave; confirms our 1931). NB a separate George H Chedzoy at Up Cerne, Dorset (wife Louisa, dau Fanny) is a different man.
