Son of Robert Chedzoy and Elizabeth, baptised 15 Mar 1667/8 at Stoke St Gregory [FreeREG]. Brother of Edward (1663) and Robert (1665/6).
Later life at Othery, about three miles away (identity likely but unproven, see below). He married twice. His first wife Elizabeth was buried 24 May 1727 at Othery, recorded as 'wife of Alexander': FreeREG record . He then married Alice Shepherd by banns on 22 May 1728 at Othery St Michael: FreeREG record . Alice was buried 22 May 1737 and Alexander on 15 Sep 1737: FreeREG record . No children are recorded by either wife - a county-wide FreeREG search of Chedzoy baptisms, including parent fields, finds no baptism naming Alexander as father - so he appears to have died without issue.
Identity: the Othery Chedzoys appear in the register only from 1727, the name is rare, and this is the only Alexander Chedzoy baptism in the county, which makes the identification likely; but no record ties the Othery man back to Robert's Stoke St Gregory family, so it is not proven. The continuing Othery line descends from a separate couple, Edward Chedzoy and Jone Tiver (married 1731/2).
