Elizabeth Chedzoy

Daughter of Walter Chedzoy and his first wife Elizabeth Ivory (married 9 Feb 1690/1 at Stoke St Gregory). No baptism has been found for her in FreeREG; the Stoke St Gregory register has gaps and illegible entries across roughly 1690-1708, so her birth year (c. 1697) is an estimate and her birthplace, almost certainly Stoke St Gregory, is inferred. Doubtful marriage: a marriage of Elizabeth CHEDZEY to Robert Shattock took place on 7 Oct 1715 at Bishops Lydeard, West Somerset, with children Robert (1716) and Jane (1719) baptised there (FreeREG record). This was previously attached to her, but the bride is recorded as 'Chedzey' and the family lived at Bishops Lydeard in the separate West Somerset Chedzey cluster about 15 miles away, so the identification with Walter's daughter is doubtful and unproven; it may well be a different Elizabeth. Her own fate is otherwise unrecorded. Merged (10 Jun 2026) from a duplicate record (formerly #79) that had wrongly given her mother as Walter's second wife Martha Musgrave; her mother was his first wife, Elizabeth Ivory.
