Sources & research
Son of Walter Chedzoy and Jane Goodridge, and the brother who carries on the direct line (through his son Issachar, #30). He was named after an elder brother Levi who had died as an infant in 1735 (#146).
His own baptism is not in the FreeREG transcripts: the Stoke St Gregory register has gaps across roughly 1736 to 1742, so his birth of c. 1737 is carried from the GEDCOM and WikiTree rather than record-confirmed.
Banns were read in August 1761 for a marriage to Susannah Combe that never went ahead. Two years later he married Ann Pearce on 4 Jan 1763 at Stoke St Gregory, both being of that parish. Ann signed the register with a mark (X) while Levi signed his own name; the witnesses were John Pim and Thomas Morris.
FreeREG record
Seven children were baptised to Levi and Ann at Stoke St Gregory:
Mary, baptised 15 Apr 1764 - FreeREG record
Levi, baptised 29 Dec 1765 - FreeREG record
Issachar, baptised 24 Mar 1771 - FreeREG record
William, privately baptised 13 Aug 1779 - FreeREG record
William, baptised 15 Jan 1783 "aged 2" (born c. 1781) - FreeREG record
Joan, baptised 15 Jan 1783 as an infant (born c. 1782) - FreeREG record
Thomas, baptised 25 Dec 1787 - FreeREG record
The two sons named William are almost certainly different boys: the first was privately baptised in 1779 (often a sign of a sickly newborn) and the name was reused for a son born about 1781, so the 1779 child probably died young.
His widow Ann Pearce was buried at Stoke St Gregory on 26 Jan 1812 (FreeREG, recorded under the Chedgzoy spelling).
Open question: a "John" listed among the children in the imported data has no baptism at Stoke St Gregory and no other supporting record, so he is treated as unconfirmed and possibly spurious pending review.
Buried at Stoke St Gregory on 5 Sep 1794, aged c. 57.
