Sources & research

Son of Levi Chedzoy (#45) and Ann Pearce, baptised 15 Jan 1783 "aged 2" (born c. 1781) at Stoke St Gregory. Married Rachel Sperring on 2 Feb 1803 at Stoke St Gregory, both of that parish (entry 89; Rachel signed with a mark, witnesses John Parks and Sarah Crease). The marriage and the family appear in the register under the CHEDGZOY spelling, which is why an earlier Chedzoy-only search missed them. FreeREG record Children of William and Rachel baptised at Stoke St Gregory include Amelia (aged 2, baptised 22 Oct 1809) and Mary Ann (same day), with further Chedgzoy baptisms following. A William Chedgzoy was buried at Stoke St Gregory on 29 Dec 1811 and another on 7 Dec 1843; which (if either) is this William is not yet established.
