Parish book for 1786 show an entry for "26th April 1786. A vestry meeting for ceiling and whitening the Church. Mr. Edward Barrington consents to pay 5 5/ besides his usual rate. Contract entered into with Abraham Champion and Levi Chidgey to do the work for 15 Guineas". I'm not quite sure which Abraham Champion worked with Levi as father and son had the same name, however Levi married either Abraham's sister or daughter Mary Champion at Stoke St Gregory on 15th September 1789. Both signed their names. Levi did work on the church as this entry in the Parish Book shows "1806. The whole amount of Levi Chedzoy's bill for repair of Tower and Ch Yard Walls, 47 9/2d". Levi was only 49 when he died, he was buried 3rd August 1814

Son of Levi Chedzoy (#45) and Ann Pearce, baptised 29 Dec 1765 at Stoke St Gregory. FreeREG record Married Mary Champion on 15 Sep 1789 at Stoke St Gregory, both of that parish (witnesses Edward Barrington and the parish clerk Gilbert Gent). FreeREG record Most of the couple's children appear in the Stoke St Gregory register under the CHEDGZOY spelling, baptised in catch-up groups after a register gap: Ann and Charles together on 4 Jun 1804, and Rachel and George together on 24 Jun 1810. Earlier children James (c. 1796) and Hannah (c. 1798, died an infant in 1799) fall in the gap and are not in the transcripts. Levi was buried at Stoke St Gregory on 3 Aug 1814 (recorded Chedgzoy). A placeholder child 'Not Named' (#61) has no supporting record and should be reviewed for removal.
