Sources & research
Recorded as the direct-line heir: husband of Ann Chedgzoy (#29) and father of the next generation, whose son John (#19, born 1836) carries the line on. The couple's children were born at Stoke St Gregory between about 1825 and 1841. THERE IS AN UNRESOLVED IDENTITY CONFLICT. The database attaches to this one person both: (a) a baptism on 21 May 1809 as the infant son of Issachar Chedzoy (#30) and Charlotte; and (b) the marriage of John Chedzoy to Ann Chedzoy on 15 Oct 1821 at Stoke St Gregory. A man baptised in 1809 cannot have married in 1821 (he would have been twelve), so these are almost certainly two different Johns, and Ann's husband must have been born about 1797 or earlier. FreeREG record Consequence: the direct-line parentage ABOVE this John is not yet secure. The link up to Issachar #30 rests on the 1809 baptism, which probably belongs to a different (possibly short-lived) John. His true birth year and parents need the 1841 and 1851 census and civil-registration records (Ancestry) to resolve. Flagged for the Ancestry pass; the tree structure has been left unchanged pending that evidence. Confirmed for now: he married Ann Chedgzoy on 15 Oct 1821 at Stoke St Gregory and they raised a large family there into the 1840s.
